FAQ
What is Thermostone and how is it produced
Thermostone is produced from ceramist, , stone powder, perlite, light inert materials, granulates, cement and ferrous oxide colorants, which produce a special kind of lighter, porous concrete with exceptional insulation and ecological characteristics. Thanks to the ceramist and the special technology of the billet, the end products have excellent thermal insulation, effective noise insulation, steam permeability, lightness and pressure resistance, biological neutrality, fire resistance (class A1), resistance to atmospheric conditions and freezing and are a lasting, but at the same time a recyclable and ecologically safe product.
Can Thermostone be used in construction?
Thermostone is an industrially produced facing stone intended for interior and exterior architectural design of façades and walls. It is mainly used for decoration, thermal-and sound insulation purposes and has no construction role.
What is the difference between Thermostone and natural stone?
Thermostone is poured into a casting form, which reproduce the surface of the natural stone or brick, but thanks to its ingredients, it is much lighter than the solid stone variations, found in nature. When the use of natural stone foundations and walls is too expensive and inexpedient, Thermostone, with its lighter structure can be easily and rapidly sealed on almost all types of surfaces and foundations and is less expensive.
What are the advantages of using Thermostone?
The price of fully realized decoration Thermostone surfaces is between 30 and 50% lower than the price of the natural stone analogues. The savings are mainly realized due to the faster preliminary processing, less discarded materials during the fitting process and the lack of necessity to use additional supporting constructions.
What is the area that could be covered with Thermostone in one day?
Depending on the complicity of the model, the Thermostone artificial decorating stone facings can cover between 5 and 15 square meters of façade area per day. With the regular form product lines, the fitting of which doesn’t include joints, it is possible to have higher productivity – up to 20 square meters. The models with irregular form usually require more attention, imagination and time for fitting and joining and thus the productivity is lower.
What base and surface can be used for fitting Thermostone products?
The artificial Thermostone facing stones can be fitted to any properly prepared construction surface with appropriate load capacity – both interior and exterior vertical walls, columns, oriels or facades. The applications are numerous from finishing works of private properties to public and business buildings and constructions.
Are there minimum quantities for an order to be placed?
Depending on the model, the minimum quantity for a distributor is one euro pallet, respectively one box pallet (see the price list for details concerning the size.
Can the Thermostone products be used for pavement stones and for similar floor decoration purposes?
No, the Thermostone products are a wall decoration element and their use floor or pavement covering is unacceptable.
Can the Thermostone products be used as decorating facing in close proximity to swimming pools?
Yes, regarding their durability, the Thermostone products have the same qualities as any concrete type. However, the constant contact with chlorinated water or other chemicals might lead to a change in colour. In such conditions, it is recommended to cover the surface of the stones with an appropriate lacquer.
Can the Thermostone products be placed on fireplaces or near open fire heaters?
The Thermostone artificial facing stones are fire proof and smoke proof. However it is not recommended to place them in constant contact with open fire.
How are the Thermostone products sold?
The Thermostone artificial facing stones, slabs and bricks are sold per square meter and the edging elements (only necessary in several models) are offered per lineal meter. (See the price list for details).
Are the colours of the Thermostone products sustainable?
The ferrous oxide coloring pigments have to be added during the process of pouring the stone mixture into the casting form and are a chemically related product component. The long term exposure of the surface to different atmospheric conditions doesn’t lead to fading or discoloration of the initial colour nuances.
What is the durability of the Thermostone products?
The Thermostone products are made of lighter concrete and stand as long as other high quality concretes, exposed to external impacts. Neu Litic Ltd. Offers a 45-year-guarantee for its Thermostone products.
Do the Thermostone products meet the construction requirements?
As this is a facing material with a decoration, not a construction function, it is not in the capacity and control of construction norms. However, when used for renovation of historical buildings or cultural monuments, a specific permission of the responsible construction control institutions might be required.
Is the Thermostone artificial stone amenable to additional treatment?
